Literary Devices

Today we introduced the concept of identifying literary devices within our reading.  Authors employ literary devices in order to add interest to their writing.  Literary devices serve to entice the reader in many ways.

Your assignment tonight is to discover examples of literary devices in your world. You have been assigned a particular literary device in accordance with your secret agent number.  Your challenge is to define the device, find and cite an example of this device in writing.  You can use any number of sources like books, magazines, Newsela, poetry, songs, television, movies or other media to demonstrate your device.  Capture that example by rewriting a portion of it on your papers.  Be sure to explain your example.  On the back of your paper, you have been challenged to create your own example of literary device. This assignment will be due Wednesday, January 7th 2015.  You may bring in your literary source to refer to in class tomorrow.

Once we have collected these devices, we will be creating a exciting board game that demonstrates our literary devices.

Good Luck!
